Build Notes & Lessons Learned
Flight Notes
The Mosquito LR pushes the limits of what’s possible with a micro long-range quad. Flight performance is its biggest compromise. It accelerates slowly, struggles to recover from prop wash, and feels underpowered throughout the throttle range. Flying style is limited to smooth, gentle cruising, as aggressive maneuvers quickly expose its lack of thrust.
What makes this build interesting is its efficiency. Despite its tiny size, it can stay in the air for up to 17 minutes and I have reached distances of around 3.5 km under less than ideal conditions, so it could probably even go a bit farther. If your goal is simply to see how far a tiny quad can fly, the Mosquito LR is a fascinating platform. If you're looking for a more versatile flying experience, larger 2–3 inch long-range builds offer substantially better performance.
